Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm in our FlyGirls program. We are hoping that by conducting this program, aimed solely at high school girls, we can attract more young women to our Private Pilot training course which will begin again this fall. Our Private Pilot program is open to both males and females who are 16 years old. We are also hoping that FlyGirls will broaden the girls’ options to include Aviation as a career or continuing education choice. We are excited to be able to share our passion of aviation with area youth and hopefully influence a few, enough to choose it as a career option.
Fly Girls Goals:
- To promote aviation for young women
- Provide samples of various careers in aviation with guest speakers
- Encourage young women to consider further education in aviation
- Provide additional information for education after receiving Private Pilot License
- To promote our Private Pilot Training Program for area youth
- To hope the girls will have a new and exciting interest in aviation
Fly Girls Objectives:
- Showing the various options available in the aviation field
- Provide general knowledge of aerodynamics for aircraft
- Introduce flight controls, instruments and parts of an airplane
- Introduce operation within the airport environment: communications, taxi, pattern
- Touch briefly on the importance of flight planning and CG
- Introduction to weather basics and how it can affect flight
- Provide up to 3 hours in an aircraft with a certified instructor
- They will experience EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh
- Fly-In Dine-In Luncheon Madison Wisconsin
- 3 flight instruction with a certified flight instructor in WAA plane
Fly Girls is to serve as an introduction of what our full Private Pilot Training Program consists of. This is intended to serve as a sample to assist the girls in making a choice: if aviation and a Private Pilot License is an interest of theirs, and then to offer them an opportunity to apply for the full program.
